Call For Abstract
Purbanchal University, Faculty of Education is honored to host the first Early Childhood Development (ECD) Conference for the first time in Biratnagar, the capital of Koshi Province, Nepal. Purbanchal University, established in 1994, is a public university in Nepal. The Faculty of Education (FoE) at Purbanchal University has grown to be the center of education on teaching and learning in the country, offering the most comprehensive array of Undergraduate/Graduate programs. The Faculty of Education aspires to lead the study and practice of education, to influence public policy and improve community life through education, and to nurture graduates who are passionately committed to their professions. It is expected that any form of early childhood program embodies a developmentally appropriate practice that attends to health, nutrition, protection, responsive care, and learning for children from conception to eight years of age and their parents and caregivers.
To ensure constitutional rights, the government of Nepal has developed a national early childhood development strategy for 2020-30. The strategy has been developed to guide the formulation and implementation of policies, plans, and programs at the federal, provincial, and local levels. Despite the affirmative policies, most of the children are not enjoying their developmental rights. In this context, an international conference has been envisioned by the faculty of Education, Purbanchal University to bring policymakers, academia, and practitioners together to create a discourse on improving the quality and accessibility of developmental opportunities to early-age children. The aim of conducting this conference is to delve into the structural, cultural, epistemological, and institutional challenges and opportunities encountered by the ECD researchers, practitioners, and policymakers who are willing to change the ECD ecosystem. Furthermore, it seeks to explore practice gaps and shifts in approaches and envision the future trajectory of quality ECD approaches through research. The outcome of the conference is expected to establish a specialized center for the study of ECD in Nepal.
